I’m Alive, Honest
by Charlotte Reads Classics
I had a brilliant holiday on the Isle of Harris, and have come back to a very unrelaxing week of house hunting. So I suppose this is a post to excuse my lack of posts, both for the last couple of weeks and for a few weeks into the future! But when normal posts resume, my books will have a lovely new home, and hopefully a bit more space… We’ll see.
My holiday books were The Secret History by Donna Tartt (excellent) and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (average). I would recommend the first but not the second, and I do still want to write about the Joanne Harris books I read recently.
At the moment though, I can manage to read Roald Dahl (Danny the Champion of the World) and thats about it. But I’ll be back and will do my best to catch up with everyone else’s blogs too. Please bear with me!
Welcome back – what a gorgeous photo! Glad you enjoyed The Secret History, I thought it was an amazing book.
Glad you had a good holiday! I’ve read a bit of good and a lot of average about The Thirteenth Tale so it doesn’t surprise me you don’t recommend it.
Yeah, it was just a bit … meh. I imagine she was going for a Susan Hill type novel but didn’t quite make it.
I love Secret History 🙂 Have you read The Little Friend? It’s not AS good, but still enjoyable 🙂
I haven’t but I do own it… I can’t imagine is being as good as The Secret History because that was SO GOOD but am looking forward to it!
