This book has been recommended to me a lot and I would continue the trend f you have any interest in historical fiction, danish monarchy, lots of well rounded characters and a fair bit of smut! Rose Tremain manages the excellent feat of weaving together many different stories with ease: there is the King and his concubine, a lutenist, a widowed Irish Countess, a country family, deceased relatives… And best of all the story is wrapped up in a really satisfying way. A quick, light hearted read with a lot of substance to back it up.
